OUR STANDARDS

Editorial Policy

The Plenary Report is committed to responsible, independent and evidence-led journalism. These standards guide how we gather, verify, publish and correct information.

1. Accuracy and verification

We make reasonable efforts to verify facts, names, dates, figures, documents, images and claims before publication. Where information cannot be independently confirmed, we make that limitation clear.

2. Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of political, commercial, personal or other improper influence. Any material relationship that could affect a story will be disclosed where relevant.

3. Fairness and right of reply

We aim to represent people and organisations fairly. Where a report contains significant allegations about an identifiable person or organisation, we seek a response within a reasonable timeframe and reflect the response accurately.

4. News, analysis and opinion

We distinguish factual reporting from analysis and opinion through clear labels. Opinion articles express the views of their authors and do not automatically represent the position of the publication.

5. Sources and attribution

We identify sources where possible, attribute information to its origin and avoid presenting unverified social-media claims as established facts. Anonymous sources are used cautiously and only where there is a compelling public-interest reason.

6. Images and digital material

Images, videos and other digital materials should be authentic, relevant and appropriately captioned. Illustrative or file images should not be presented as photographs of the specific event being reported.

7. Conflicts of interest and sponsored content

Staff and contributors should disclose relevant conflicts of interest. Advertising, sponsorships and paid content must be clearly distinguished from independent editorial coverage.

8. Corrections and complaints

We will review credible complaints and correct significant factual errors transparently and within a reasonable time. Readers may contact the newsroom to request a correction or raise an editorial concern.

9. Updates to this policy

This policy may be reviewed as the publication develops. The latest version displayed on this page will guide our editorial practice.
